Radiation risk assessment

Dental x-ray radiation risk assessment

Before using x-ray equipment for the first time, it is important that a specific risk assessment for the work is produced in conjunction with an RPA and documented.  The risk assessment identifies the risks due to radiation and the measure put in place to manage them.  The risk assessment should consider the dose rates arising the from the equipment, the shielding afforded by the surgery, the likely radiation dose to the operator and other persons in the surroundings.  This should determine any shielding that might be required and the radiation controlled area required.  The risk assessment should also consider training, maintenance and testing of equipment and potential accident scenarios.

The risk assessment should be periodically reviewed and kept up to date.   Get in touch to see how we can help.
