The GDC advises that radiation protection is a core CPD topic for all GDC registered staff. The GDC recommends that you do at least 5 hours of verifiable CPD in every cycle. In addition, when inspected by CQC (or HIW / HIS / RQIA) they will review whether staff training is in place. We offer all our clients free access to online training packages as detailed below:

Staff Working with X-Rays

An online CPD package of 5 hours, which covers:

• Xray radiation and radiation risks, staff and public safety
• IRMER and patient safety
• Equipment and optimisation

On completion certificates for your CPD record are provided.

Dental Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) Training & CPD

The Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) is responsible for overseeing the work to ensure it is carried out safely in accordance with the Local Rules.  The HSE expect employers to ensure that individuals appointed as an RPS have received adequate training.  The dental RPS training covers:

• The nature of radiation
• What is meant by a dose of radiation
• Radiation monitoring
• Legal requirements
• Basic principles of radiation protection
• In-house knowledge, such as safety policy and local rules
• Procedures to be followed in the event of an accident or incident

On completion certificates for your CPD record are provided.
